The most widely reported case from 2016 and one that really brings home the dangers of distracted driving. Kroker was scrolling through music on a device and his actions were caught on two cameras. One in the cab facing toward Kroker and the other the road ahead. (* the video footage is traumatic)
Kroker was completely focussed on his device and was totally oblivious to the stationary traffic ahead of him. He rammed into that standing traffic at speed with the weight of his HGV. Sadly he killed 4 people. Tracy Houghton, 45, her sons Ethan, 13, and Joshua. 11 and her partner’s daughter Aimee Goldsmith, also 11.
If ever there were a case that should stop every driver from ever using a phone behind the wheel again.. this is it.
of Tracy Houghton, 45; sons Ethan, 13, and Joshua. 11; and her partner’s daughter Aimee Goldsmith, also 11.
Kroker pleaded guilty at court and was sentenced to 10yrs in prison.
